Slifer Designs is hosting a cozy & yummy après book signing event this Thursday, January 21st with local author Jennie Iverson from 3-5 pm. Jennie is the author of Ski Town Soups & Ski Town Après Ski.
We are looking forward to having a local author share some of her recipes. It’s been cold lately and we have felt inspired to try some new soup recipes from these cookbooks. Not sure what recipe to start with? Slifer Designs will be giving you a chance to talk favorite recipes and tips including our very own soup tasting at our Edwards showroom on Thursday.
“When was I putting Ski Town Soups together, I was dreaming what it would look like: rustic yet sophisticated and photography rich,” Ms. Iverson says. She achieved a coffee table book decadent with recipes and pictures to transport you. “I curl up on the coach and dream, ‘what am I going to make in the next month? What am I going to make for the next party? What will go with it pairing wise?”
A couple of years after Ski Town Soups became a mountain favorite, Ski Town Après Ski was released to similar fanfare. Ms. Iverson quickly shares that she doesn’t have a culinary background but paired her love of cooking and creating home-cooked meals for her young family with her hobbies of traveling and skiing.
Each soup and après recipe is credited to a ski locale. Ms. Iverson hopes that making it in your own home will evoke memories of past trips while creating new family memories. The cookbooks are coffee table worthy – you won’t want to hide this away on your bookshelf. They are perfect gifts for the hostess who has everything, including the gourmet-level kitchen; or for Nana who prefers to stay inside while others are out sledding – even for the newlyweds who are starting their lives together and creating their own memories and traditions.
In Après, each restaurant was able to provide just one recipe, so of course they chose their specialties. “You can’t go wrong with each and every recipe,” Ms. Iverson says. “The restaurants shared one of their signature recipes because that’s the one they want to be known for.”
