EDWARDS, CO - May 29, 2008, - Slifer Designs is expanding retail operations in November, 2008 to the Willits Town Center in Basalt. Modeled after the flagship store in Edwards, the new showroom will feature a variety of vignettes displaying furniture, art, accessories and "green" items for the home.

Slightly larger than the Edwards store, the new Basalt showroom will be 5,255 square feet. As part of the commitment to "green" design, we will incorporate eco-friendly finishes into the store design. Each week the merchandising team creates new vignettes, so the showroom offers fresh looks and unique merchandise.

"Our business formula of changing products weekly sets us apart from the competition," said Susan Ferrari, Director of Retail Operations for Slifer Designs. "In addition, we are doing more residential and hospitality design projects in the Roaring Fork Valley, so this move is a natural expansion for us. Our goal is to offer unparalleled service and exclusive products to the Roaring Fork Valley."

Offerings from vendors including Henredon, Milling Road, Hickory Chair, Ralph Lauren, Baker, Century, Ankasa, Michael Aram and Lee Industries also set the showroom apart. The Slifer Designs buying team attends the High Point furniture market twice a year and the New York gift show semi-annually in search of unusual and unique items, and to see the latest in the furniture industry. The end result is a mix of products, with a mix of pricing, making this new shopping experience for the Roaring Fork Valley appropriate for everyone.

"Whether furnishing a new home or buying a birthday gift, our showroom has something for everyone," continued Ferrari.

The Basalt Slifer Designs showroom is located next to Whole Foods Market in the Willits Town Center. "The retail stores are showing continued momentum at Willits," says Tom Belinski, Vice President of Development. "We are proud to have such a high quality addition in Slifer Designs, especially since they exemplify great taste with a local flair."

Slifer Designs expects to open the new showroom doors in November, 2008.

Colorado Biz magazine recently named Slifer Designs as the 16th Top Woman Owned Company in Colorado, and Western Interior Design magazine has again included us in "The List" of their recommended national designers. For more information, contact Slifer Designs at 970-926-8200 or sliferdesigns.com.

SIX DESIGNERS AT SLIFER DESIGNS ARE LEEDing THE WAY

Edwards, CO – July 2, 2009 – Slifer Designs is proud to announce six designers who just became LEED AP certified: Kim Toms, Donna Figg, Derek Halter, Sarah Carr, Sloan Pressly, and Amy Allison.

The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has created the exam process and a specific exam track, which provides a standard for professionals participating in the design and construction phases of high performance, healthful, durable, affordable, and environmentally sound commercial, institutional, and high-rise residential buildings.

There are several different exams one can take to achieve this designation from USGBC, which Slifer Designs has been a member of since 2007.  All six Slifer Designs employees took the “New Construction” 2.2 exam.

“This achievement comes with the full support of Slifer Designs, all of our colleagues and our company’s passion for green design,” said Jacobs, president of Slifer Designs.

“We look forward to sharing our new knowledge with our clients and anticipate that it will encourage more green projects to come our way. We are thrilled to now be able to offer our clients an automatic LEED point on their sustainable projects. This certification distinguishes us within the industry locally, and positions us to act as a steward for USGBC’s green building standards and point system.  Additional points can be accrued through the advice of Sarah, Amy, Sloan, Kim, Derek and Donna and throughout the design process.  It is crucial to have their input from the beginning of the process,” Jacobs concluded.

Slifer Designs is a member of the USGBC, has designed a LEED Gold project (the Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis Club) and was recently chosen by Kohler, International to design a green bathroom (now on display in Kohler, Wisconsin and published in the Robb Report).

The USGBC’s website states the following about the LEED AP program:

“The LEED AP program has always been grounded in the pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement. To continue to meet these goals, GBCI developed a new, multi-faceted credentialing system that ensures that LEED professionals have the latest knowledge and understanding of green building practices and that they are recognized for distinction.

“The new LEED professional credentialing program was developed to encourage green building professionals to maintain and advance their knowledge and expertise.

“A LEED credential provides employers, policymakers, and other stakeholders with assurances of an individual’s current level of competence and is the mark of the most qualified, educated, and influential green building professionals in the marketplace.”

The Slifer Designs showroom features several furniture and accessory items, which are considered green, including Environment, NaturalLee, and Western Heritage.  They are designated with a special “green product” sticker.

GREEN TEAM CELEBRATES FIFTH ANNIVERSARY

EDWARDS, CO - February 21, 2007 -- Slifer Designs' in-house Green Team is celebrating it's fifth anniversary with a new leader, Jennifer Beatty, project manager. Beatty, who has been with Slifer Designs since 1999, is also a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and is NCIDQ certified.

"I am excited to take the Green Team to the next level," said Beatty. "We have worked hard to educate ourselves, the community and our clients why green design is important. Our goal for the next five years is to incorporate green elements into all of our projects, both residential and hospitality."

The first course of action the Green Team took locally was to finance the recycling bins at the Vail Post Office. "This effort was led by our employees who were passionate about this issue and paid for it themselves until the post office received funding to pay for it on their own," Beatty continued. Since then, the Green Team has developed an extensive in-house library of Green fixed finishes and interior design choices for one's home.

Currently Slifer Designs is working on several hospitality projects that are considered Green: Ameya Preserve (www.ameyapreserve.com) in Livingston, MT, Shadowrock in El Jebel, CO, and the Jackson Hole Tennis and Golf Club, WY. Completed green projects include the Slifer Smith and Frampton Breckenridge Sales Center, Brightwater Club's Cast Off Cabin, in Gypsum, CO and Tonapalo and Old Greenwood in Lake Tahoe, CA. Old Greenwood was awarded a first place finish in 2005 by ASID in the sustainable design over 10,000 square feet category.

"With a steady flow of requests for green design, we are excited about the future and our potential to act responsibly toward our fragile environment. The public's general awareness of the need for green initiatives coupled with our passion and expertise will create great results." Beatty concludes.

Slifer Designs recently sponsored the Healthy Homes Tour, an event organized by the Vail Valley Symposium, is a sponsor of the Green Building Group and is a member of the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council).

The Slifer Designs retail showroom also features several green vendors including Environment and South Cone. The retail showroom, located next to Starbucks, is open seven days a week.
