Bright Future Foundation

Slifer Designs has been helping the Bright Future Foundation remodel and refurnish their Safehouse, located in Eagle County at an undisclosed location. Under the design direction of veteran designer Marilyn Smith Heaney, the Safehouse is looking much better these days. Heaney has been able to secure donations for new carpet, brand new kitchen appliances and gently used furniture from a home that was recently sold.

“Our involvement has been both a fun and rewarding experience to greatly improve Freedom Ranch, BFF’s Safehouse,” said Marilyn Smith Heaney, Project Manager and Interior Designer for Slifer Designs for over 20 years. “Our philosophy that good design brings happiness to those living in that environment was something that we really wanted to bring to Freedom Ranch. Our hope is that the new interiors we are providing, all through private donations, will help individuals in need during a time of crisis,” Smith Heaney continued.

Smith Heaney was fortunate to have a friend of a friend who was willing to donate most of the furniture from a home in Singletree.  “They gave almost everything including a sofa, chairs, beds,  sheets, towels, dishes and silverware.  Everything was gently used, but much newer than what existed in Freedom Ranch.

“Our distribution team and many staff members from the Slifer Designs office volunteered for a day of packing.   Although it was a huge undertaking, we managed to move everything into our storage facility in Eagle. Bit by bit, we are installing new items into Freedom Ranch.”

Before the furniture could be moved in, Smith Heaney was hoping to find a donor for new carpet, which was in desperate need of replacing.  Ruggs Benedict came to the rescue and agreed to help.

“Through Marilyn’s request, Ruggs Benedict donated brand new carpet, padding and  installation time for the 7 bedroom house. The generosity associated with  improving Freedom Ranch is contagious,” says a grateful Sheri Mintz, MSW, LCSW, and Executive Director of BFF.
