A Denver, Colorado based homeowner hired Slifer Designs' Frances Karsh to completely renovate a 1960s Vail Village condominium, that had already been remodeled several times After a series of initial meetings, Frances started with a neutral color pallet of warm creams, beiges, browns and tans to create the clean lined, yet comfortable interior. (Below is the living room fireplace - before and after).

Shoji Japanese doors were integrated throughout the vacation home creating a consistent sophistication and a clever use of space in this small 2,100 square foot condominium.
The owner directed Frances to find sculptural lighting for the dining room, kitchen, staircase and bedrooms. As a result, the lighting is one of the standout design elements throughout the home.
Beautiful tile selections in all of the new bathrooms are very contemporary and sleek. Useful built-in tile shelves create extra convenience. The before and after transformation with the bathrooms are very dramatic.

The kitchen framwork remained mostly the same as the "bones were good." But, the new kitchen has a less heavy look and is more open and inviting as the heart of the home and open to the Great Room.

Let's not overlook that Frances added a fireplace to the master bedroom and bathroom. this was not without it's challenges, but was overcome by constant communication with the builder and frequent site visits.

In addition, Frances was confronted with challenges associated with the old building and had to upgrade the electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. In the end, Frances created a new home for this client that he and his family can relax and enjoy while they vacation in Vail.
