SLIFER DESIGNS COMPLETES DESIGN FOR ONE OF VAIL’S NEWEST PREMIER RESORT PROPERTIES
Interior Finishes Finalized for
THE ARRABELLE AT VAIL SQUARE

August 9, 2005 –  Experts from Slifer Designs’ award-winning design team recently completed the design work on Vail’s newest luxury resort property, The ArraBelle at Vail Square.  This project is being done in collaboration with Vail Resorts and 4240 Architecture, and includes interior architecture and interior design for The ArraBelle at Vail Square public spaces, in addition to all of the fixed finishes and furnishings in the hotel rooms, and fixed finishes for the wholly-owned condominiums.

“We are thrilled to be a part of Vail’s New Dawn,” said Jim Dawkins, AIA, vice president of Slifer Designs’ Interior Architecture and Hospitality department.  “The positive energy associated with The ArraBelle is driving our design team to create several beautiful interior options for the new owners, as well as design public spaces that will be enjoyed by everyone who visits.  Vail’s renaissance will shine through in these new interiors.”

After a lengthy research process, the design team has developed an overall aesthetic concept for the hotel rooms based on Biedermeier, an early 19th century German architecture movement which is marked by simplicity, elegance and functionality.

Furnishings and fixtures in the hotel rooms were chosen to be consistent with Rock Resorts reputation for the highest level of luxury in design and amenities.  The bathrooms will feature a double door entry, a cast iron deep soaking tub, a freestanding double sink marble vanity and a frameless glass shower.  The hotel rooms will also showcase an elegant built-in wood closet and a floor-to-ceiling drapery canopy over the bed, plaster corner fireplace, lounge chairs with ottoman, flat screen televisions, and a two-sided partner’s desk.

The public spaces, designed with taste of Bavarian style, include a restaurant and bar, a spa and fitness center, a Great Room, a hotel lobby, ski club, elevators and elevator lobbies, hotel corridors and a ballroom.   A series of four-sided groin vaults and a carved wooden front desk will immediately greet guests in the Hotel Lobby. A double-tiered iron chandelier centered on a cut limestone fireplace and an intricate wood ceiling are the highlights of the Hotel Reception area.

Relaxing in the spa will be made easy with a warm color scheme of terra cotta, buff, cinnamon and amber combined with water and light features throughout.  The bar and restaurant’s interesting lighting fixtures, classic back bar design and clover shaped stone columns create an “Old World” European flavor.   The Great Room, perched above the restaurant on the second floor, looks out onto Vail Mountain through expansive windows, and offers vaulted ceilings and an enormous fireplace with plaster painted Tyrolean details.

“Our collaboration with Vail Resorts in choosing the very best in fixed finishes and creating one-of-a-kind design elements throughout the public spaces, is intended to catapult The ArraBelle into the top ratings of the resort hotel world,” continues Dawkins.

The Slifer Designs team that is working on this project includes Director of Hospitality, Donna Figg;  Project Manager, Sarah Carr;  Senior Project Designer, Kim Toms;  Senior Project Designer,  Lori Bream; Designer, Sandy Cochran; and Project Captain, Nicole Beaton.  Yvonne Jacobs, vice president of Interior Design is handling any requests for furnishing the wholly owned units. The ArraBelle at Vail Square is expected to be complete in 2007.

Slifer Designs has a long history with Vail Resorts, having also designed several of their signature properties including Allie’s Cabin, Beano’s Cabin, the Beaver Creek Club, Game Creek Club, Gore Creek Place and Red Sky Ranch Member Clubhouse.  Slifer Designs is also currently working on remodeling Mickey’s Bar in the Lodge at Vail and Vail’s Front Door for Vail Resorts.
