Interior designers share ideas and tips to create the best space for their clients.
Slifer Designs was one of the first interior design firms in the Vail Valley. Founder and Creative Director Beth Slifer redesigned a mountain condo – it sold quickly thanks to her design aesthetic, and a career and company were born. More than 30 years later, Slifer, with its high-end retail space, team of experienced, talented and passionate designers, warehouse and installation team, is still the ‘go-to’ mountain design company.
The long-time design team is a passionate band of artisans, who expertly create unique living spaces while sticking to budgets, incorporating client wishes and relying on the most up-to-date styles and technology.
Recently, the company restructured to create a stronger foundation for success, putting veteran designers Andrea Georgopolis, Yvonne Jacobs and Kim Toms in the principal positions. The triad approach focuses on each member’s strengths as the team is able to adapt nimbly to the client’s and project team’s needs, explains Toms, NCDIQ, LEED AP, who has been with Slifer Designs for 16 years.
“I think our client services will still be top notch as they always have been,” shares Jacobs. “For me personally, it has allowed me to be more focused on clients and give better service by being more available.”
Clients expect a high level of service from Slifer Designs, and the entire company delivers just that, which is one of the reasons so many designers have stayed with the company for years. This business model allows Slifer to be strong yet flexible.
“One of the most amazing things about Slier Designs is that we work alongside other designers who share ideas, products and help solve tricky design challenges. This allows us to be creative with others to bring our clients the very best product design,” says Georgopolis.
This team work attitude is reflected throughout the company, and beyond the design staff. “Slifer Designs is the only design firm within the valley with an in-house warehouse and an A-plus delivery team. We do what we say we are going to do,” adds Toms.
Just as important as a cohesive team is the fact that Slifer Designs is an integral part of the fabric of our community. From day one, giving back was a key component of success.
“I love that we are doing something more for our valley – we are very involved in our community,” says Jacobs, a Slifer designer for 20 years. “We are also giving people a great place to work in the valley with benefits and a pathway to future success.”
So, while the updated internal structure is stronger than ever, playing to each team members’ strengths, clients will simply see it as business as usual: Quality craftsmanship delivered on time and within budget.
