Bridging the gap between the Middle East and the Rocky Mountains, Slifer Designs will host James Opie in a special trunk show on July 10. Mr. Opie will share his hand-curated selection of artisanal rugs and his decades of Afghan knowledge with his presentation on “The Afghan Project”.
Mr. Opie has developed relationships in Afghanistan and works with Afghan weavers to create antique replica rugs that are beautiful enough to be used as display but within reach to use in every day life. The rugs featured in “The Afghan Rug Project” focus on the poor but highly skilled weavers whose families thrive when buyers in the West enjoy the fruits of the weavers’ skills.
