Lillian August – Favorite colors – for her brave bold use of color. She showed a silk chartreuse chesterfield sofa. Not very practical in our part of the world, but fun and different.
Hickory Chair – Favorite vignette was by Suzanne Kasler. The perfect little girls room. White Simone twin beds with pink accents, mirrored Belvedere chest, and an Alexandra side chair at the foot of the bed.
Lee Industries – Favorite find. For people in the know, Lee Industries hosts a happy hour cocktail ottoman auction. They pull up a truck with the intention of restocking their showroom with one-of-a kind cocktail ottomans upholstered in antique rugs. The ottomans never make it in the door because a crowd forms and we begin to buy these one of a kind treasures as they are being unloaded. This year the crowd got large enough that the High Point police department showed up. It takes more than an armed man in a uniform to distract Slifer Designs buyers. We bought four of the best ottomans on the truck. They are in our stores now. Grab them before they are gone.
Vanguard Furniture (above) – Favorite celebrity designers – Michael Weiss and Thom Felicia. Weiss has a really clean, functional design aesthetic. Lots of grays with pops of orange. Thom Felicia’s designs have a fun, whimsical feel and you won’t find a friendlier, more personable designer.
Baker Furniture – Favorite new collection by Thomas Pheasant was hands down the showstopper of the High Point market. Beautiful, sophisticated, exquisite designs. You really need to see this collection in person because my description will not do it justice.
MG+BW – Favorite party – hosted at MG+BW’s High Point home. Chef Sean creates some of the best food at market, Bob’s adorable French Bulldogs can’t understand why all of these buyers are in their living room. The home is decorated in their newest collections and it really gave us a chance to live with these items for an evening and imagine how our customers will live with them in the future.
Currey & Company – Favorite lighting showroom. Currey & Company is no longer just about lighting. They have expanded their line to include furniture and accessories. I loved the way the showroom was merchandised and the wall colors they used.
